Erica Lovell is an award nominated director, critically acclaimed actor, and passionate educator with a career spanning over fifteen years.
As a performer, Erica has worked across theatre, musical theatre, voice over, television, and film, with credits with Australia's premier theatre companies including Sydney Theatre Company, The Ensemble Theatre, and Opera Australia. Career highlights include playing Amy March in the Australian premier of Little Women (Directed by Stuart Maunder) and Nerissa in The Merchant of Venice (Directed by Richard Cottrell).
Erica has been teaching singing and acting for seventeen years, in individual and class settings. Her students have released singles, appeared on television shows, and worked performed for Opera Australia. In addition to her private teaching and work with schools, Erica has taught drama as part of The Lila Project working with children and teenagers in remote Aboriginal communities for Poetry in Action.
She was assistant director to Sandra Bates on the 2015 Ensemble Theatre Production of The Good Doctor. She was also vocal coach and composer for the production.
In 2019, Erica joined Company of Rogues as Executive Creative Producer. For the company, she directed Boy Out of The Country and Gravity Guts, the latter earning her a Best Director nomination for the Broadway World Awards, as well as Best Play and Best Actress (Emily McKnight in the lead role) nominations. The production also received a nomination for Best Theatre at the Sydney Fringe Awards.
Erica is currently directing for Poetry in Acton's international theatre in education tour.
